Who Am I?

Susan Bassett, Ph.D. is the director of PNI and an Associate Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences in the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. She is the principal investigator (PI) for three NIH-funded grants and is involved in longitudinal research on neuro-degenerative disorders such as Alzheimer's Disease (AD). Dr. Bassett is also the head of the Diagnostic Center for Genetic Linkage Studies in Alzheimer's Disease, and is currently active in applying functional brain imaging and genetic testing to studying AD and risk factors associated with the disease. Her studies aim to identify pre-clinical markers for neuro-degenerative diseases and to apply this knowledge to populations at risk.

Active Projects

  • Diagnostic Center for Genetic Linkage Studies in Alzheimer's Disease (AD).
  • Perceptions of Risk and Genetic Testing for AD.
  • Brain Imaging and Cognition in Subjects at Risk for AD.
  • Alzheimer's Disease Genes Project
  • Disability in Parkinson's Disease
  • Neuroimaging in Bipolar Disorder
  • Virology, Genetics and Bipolar Disorder
