Who Am I? Leah Swearengin is a Research Program Coordinator for the Clinical Research Program of the NIH-funded Johns Hopkins Morris K. Udall Parkinson's Disease Research Center (PDRC). She graduated from the University of Maryland in 2005 with an undergraduate degree in Psychology. In November, 2005, she joined PNI, where she works under the supervision of Dr. Laura Marsh. Leah assists in all matters associated with clinical research studies of Parkinson's disease, including the PDRC's longitudinal study of Parkinson's Disease and healthy controls (now in its 6th year of follow-up), its brain donation program, and several clinical trials. Leah also serves as a research assistant for a clinical drug trial of Memantine (Namenda) for the treatment of dementia in PD, coordinated by Melissa Gerstenhaber and a research study looking at detection of depression in Parkinson's Disease, coordinated by Elaina Hirsch. Leah's specific responsibilities include coordinating and implementing study protocols, enrolling participants, scheduling and coordinating participant visits, administering neuropsychological batteries to study participants, creating study forms, and maintaining study databases.
